Afghanistan: 14 killed in Suicide attacks At least 14 people have been killed in two suicide bomb attacks in Afghanistan on Monday. In the first attack, 12 army recruits were killed when a suicide bomber on a motorcycle, hit a bus in eastern Afghanistan. More than 30 were injured.

The second attack that killed two people, took place in capital Kabul.

The attack came days after US Secretary of State John Kerry paid a visit to Kabul to underscore his support for Afghanistan’s beleaguered unity government and call on the insurgent group to resume direct peace talks.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid later claimed the responsibility for the attack. The group have been waging a war against the government since being toppled from power in 2001, frequently targeting the military.
