President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu today greeted teachers across the country on the eve of Teachers’ Day.
In a message, the President said, “The birth anniversary of former President of India, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a philosopher and an illustrious teacher, on September 5, is celebrated every year as Teachers’ Day.
Describing the all-important teacher’s role in a student’s life,Mr Kovind stated,”Our nation has a warm tradition of the Guru-Shishya parampara by which teachers impart their knowledge to students and empower them.
It is our moral responsibility to pay respect and regard to teachers, as they are role models who guide children to become good and productive human beings.
Teachers also develop the creativity of children and kindle a desire in them to be innovative.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu in an official statement here, Mr Naidu said ‘September 5 is observed every year as the National Teachers’ Day to commemorate the birthday of India’s second President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, an educationist and scholar par excellence.
‘Teachers are the real nation builders as they shape the future of every child and mould him/ her into a responsible citizen.
In our country, Teachers’ Day is a special day and thousands of teachers are honoured and felicitated on this occasion for the invaluable services rendered by them,” he said.
‘I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to all the teachers in our country on this auspicious occasion,’ he added.
