The death toll in the Pulwama District Police Lines suicide terrorist attack has gone up to three as two CRPF personnel succumbed to their injuries.
Earlier, a policeman was killed and six security personnel critically injured in the attack when terrorists lobbed grenades and opened indiscriminate fire on paramilitary troops after storming into the District Police Lines( DPL) building early this morning.
A joint operation has been launched by CRPF and Police to nab the attackers. Two to three terrorists are reportedly holed up in the building and exchange of fire is going on intermittently. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, so far.
The DPL houses Special Operations Group (SOG) unit of J&K Police and family residential quarters of police personnel. The family members of police personnel were evacuated.
The Pulwama-Shopian Road connecting two southern districts of Pulwama and Shopian, has also been closed for vehicular traffic. Internet services were suspended in Pulwama district as a precautionary measure.
