West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here Tuesday.
According to party sources, Ms Banerjee raised important issues concerning Darjeeling Hills and law and order related incidents in other parts of the state. Ms Banerjee also asked Home Minister about his health. Mr Rajnath Singh did not attend President’s oath taking ceremony at the Central Hall of Parliament here.
Last month, he had suffered a fracture in his left leg. Ms Banerjee and her party has been on major confrontation with the BJP in recent weeks over the violence in Darjeeling and some communal clashes in Basirhat region of North 24 Parganas district. “The meeting with Home Minister was cordial and good,” a source said.
