
The BJP Parliamentary Board will meet this afternoon to discuss the upcoming Presidential election. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah and other senior party leaders will deliberate on the names for the top constitutional post.
Yesterday, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu who is the part of party’s three member committee to hold consultation with political parties had said that the party will finalize the name for the Presidential election by 23rd of this month.
The committee already had consultations with leaders various political parties including Congress President Sonia Gandhi, CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, JD (U)’s Sharad Yadav. Yesterday, BJP president Amit Shah had held a close-door meeting with Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.
The presidential election will be held on July 17 and the counting of votes is slated for July 20. The tenure of incumbent President Pranab Mukherjee ends on July 24.
