Seasoned diplomat, journalist and currently Press Secretary to the President of India, Mr Venu Rajamony, IFS has been appointed as the Ambassador of India to Netherlands.
Venu Rajamony, a 1986 batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service had also served as Joint Secretary, heading the Multilateral Institutions Division of the Department of Economic Affairs in the Finance Ministry.
Mr. Rajamony joined the IFS after a two-year stint as journalist with an English daily. A fluent speaker of the Chinese language, he has served in the Indian missions in Hong Kong as well as the Embassy of India in Beijing for around nine years.
He also worked in the Indian mission to the U.N. in Geneva as officer responsible for human rights and humanitarian matters. In 1996, he was elected Rapporteur of the U.N. Commission on Human Rights representing India. He has also served in the Indian Embassy in Washington DC as official spokesperson and in the External Publicity Division of the Ministry of External Affairs headed by the official spokesperson of the Ministry.
