All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS Delhi has announced a compensation of ten lakh rupees to the next of kin of Nursing officer Rajbir Kaur, who died recently.

Besides, the services of senior resident of anesthesiology found guilty for willful absence from duties, will be terminated. The compassionate appointment case of next of kin of the deceased will also be processed expeditiously.

An official release said, these decisions have been taken on the basis of report of the enquiry committee, which was set up to look into the death of the nursing officer.

It said, Head of Anaesthesiology Department has been asked to ensure round the clock availability of Senior Residents at the maternity Operation Theatre to avoid any unfortunate incident in future.

The Enquiry Committee had found that Nursing Officer’s case was low risk pregnancy, and was being monitored in the labor room. The labor was progressing well, but suddenly her heart rate dropped necessitating emergency surgery. Nursing Officer was shifted to ICU where she passed away.
