President Pranab Mukherjee has said that it is his firm conviction that India’s pluralism and her social, cultural, linguistic and religious diversity are the greatest strength of the country.

prez MukherjeeAddressing the nation on the eve of Republic Day, he said, India’s tradition has always celebrated the argumentative Indian. The President also said, the government’s demonetisation move will improve the transparency of the economy.
Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have also greeted the nation on Republic Day.

In his message, Mr Ansari said, the people should reaffirm their commitment towards the Constitution and founding principles of the Republic and revalidate faith in the ideals of liberty, equality, fraternity and justice for all.

In a tweet, Mr Modi extended his best wishes to everyone on the occasion. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh sent messages to lakhs of central paramilitary and police personnel to wish them on Republic Day. The SMSes were sent on the registered mobile numbers of the men and women of the Central Armed Police Forces. Mr Singh urged them to maintain disciplined and dedicated service according to the traditions of their forces.
