Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju today rejected allegations of wrongdoings by him in the reported power project scam in Arunachal Pradesh. Speaking to media in New Delhi, Mr. Rijiju said the news has been planted against him.
He also attacked Congress over the charges that he had influenced Power Ministry to clear bills related to a project in the state.
The Minister said he had written the letter to the Ministry as it was his duty as an MP to act on representations provided by people of his area.
Mr. Rijiu asked the Congress to tender apology as these issues are related to its regime. He also dismissed the allegation that a contractor involved in the project is his cousin.
Earlier, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala released an audio tape of a purported conversation of the Minister’s cousin alleging that it is a 450-crore rupees power project scam in the form of false and inflated transportation bills. The party also demanded Mr. Rijiju’s dismissal.
