SCThe Supreme Court today court refused the Centre’s request to stay proceedings pending in various high courts, saying people may get immediate relief from them.

It fixed December 2nd for hearing the Centre’s plea to transfer all pleas on the issue to either the apex court or to one of the High Courts.

The Attorney General of India, Mukul Rohatgi told the Supreme Court more than Rs 6 lakh crores have been deposited in banks uptil now after demonetisation.

He said there is a big surge in digital use of money transaction after the move. He informed the court that the Government has set up a committee which will assess the ground situation in the country on demonetisation.

The Supreme Court also issued notice to petitioners who have challenged demonetisation move before different high courts. The notices were issued on the Centre’s transfer petition.
