In the latest incidence of ceasefire violation in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistani forces resorted to heavy shelling in Hirangar sector of Kathua district and sambha sector along the International Border and Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district along the Line of Control on Saturday evening.
After shelling from across the border in kathua and Hiranagar areas, local residents are migrating to safer places. Locals say this has never happened before, such heavy firing from Pakistan.
People have left the village as Everyone is so scared. SHO Mohd Younis Choudhary in Rajouri, said, “We are ready, dont want any casualties. This is heavy shelling. Have asked locals to stay indoors.”
Heavy exchange of gunfire on between Indian and Pakistani Armies lasted uptill this evening in Pallanwala, sector of Jammu district and Sunderbani and Nowshera sectors in Rajouri district along the Line of Control.
While intermittent exchange of fire was continuing in Balakote and R.S.Pura sectors when reports last came in.
PRO Defence Lt.Col.Manish Mehta told MEDIA that Pakistani Army had resorted to firing and shelling in areas of Rajouri and Jammu this morning while in Poonch this afternoon.
Pakistani shelling in Pallanwala area left a civilian killed while a lady was killed in Pakistani shelling in Balakote sector of Poonch.
In the wake of increased shelling the villages and hamlets lying very close to the border are being evacuated.
