makkahNearly two million Muslims from across the world including one lakh 36 thousand pilgrims from India are converging to perform the most vital ritual of Haj, Waquf-e-Arafat or the Stay at plains of Arafat in Saudi Arabia today.

The annual five day pilgrimage began yesterday with pilgrims spending the night in the tent city of Mina. After offering pre-dawn prayers there,pilgrims are now moving to plains of Arafat where they will spend the day praying and asking for God’s forgiveness.

They will listen the Haj Sermon and offer midday and afternoon prayers together before leaving for Muzdalifah in the evening.The pilgrims will spend the night there under the open sky.

The pilgrims will return to Mina tomorrow morning for animal sacrifice and symbolic stoning of the devil.
