An all-party delegation led by home minister rajnath Singh which arrived in Srinagar is holding meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and leaders of other political parties is underway in Srinagar. The delegation led by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is deliberating to assess the situation arising out due to the unrest in the Kashmir valley. It reached Srinagar this morning on a two day visit.
Before his departure, Home Minister in a tweet said he intends to talk to individuals and groups who want peace and normalcy in Kashmir Valley.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has also appealed to all separatist leaders and other organizations to take the lead and engage with the all-party delegation. She also said, the country’s political leadership must reach out and engage all sections of society, including the leaders of the Hurriyat Conference, in a productive dialogue process.

The delegation includes Union Ministers Arun Jaitley, Dr Jitendra Singh and Ram Vilas Paswan, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad and his Congress colleague Mallikarjun Kharge. JD-U leader Sharad Yadav, CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and CPI leader D Raja are also part of the delegation.
Meanwhile, ahead of the visit of the all-party delegation, the Centre approved the use of chilli-filled grenades as an alternative to pellet guns for crowd control. Official sources said, pellet guns are, however, unlikely to be banned completely but will be used in rare cases.
