All party meet on Jammu & Kashmir

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that there could not be any compromise on national security on Jammu and Kashmir. He however said that there was need to win confidence of people of the valley.
Addressing an all party meeting convened to discuss the prevailing situation in Kashmir , Mr. Modi said the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir is an integral part of Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, political parties impressed upon the government to immediately start confidence building measures to restore normalcy in valley.
They also also favoured to hold talks with all stakeholders. Opposition parties also demanded to ban the use of pellet guns against the protesters.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior Union Ministers including, Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj attended the meeting.
Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mallikarjun Kharge, Samajwadi party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury and Sharad Yadav of JD(U) were among those present in the meeting.
Earlier, the Lok Sabha before adjourning sine die passed an unanimous resolution appealing all sections of society to work for the early restoration of normalcy and harmony in the Kashmir valley. The resolution called for restoring confidence in people, in general and youth in particular in the valley.
It expressed serious concern over prolonged curfew, violence and loss of lives there. It also said the House has a firm view that there cannot be any compromise on India’s unity, integrity and national security. Earlier, the Rajya Sabha had passed a similar resolution.
