NO LET-UP IN CLASHES, 80 MORE INJURED

Three persons were killed and over 150 injured in fresh clashes which rocked Kashmir at several places today. With this the death toll during the current unrest has risen to 53.

The authorities had imposed curfew and restrictions under Section 144 almost across Kashmir valley today and detained separatist leaders to thwart a planned march to Hazratbal shrine.

Elaborate security arrangements had been put in place to maintain law and order.

Around a dozen persons were injured in clashes between forces and protesters in Magam area of Budgam district on Friday.
Most of the injured have suffered pellet injuries, hospital sources said.

Protests, rallies and clashes were reported from many areas in south, north and central Kashmir areas including Srinagar city.

In Budgam district protesters reportedly attacked the residential house of legislator Hakim Mohammad Yasin.

While old Srinagar areas witnessed stringent curbs for the 27th straight day, evening clashes rocked Chattabal, Khanyar, Qamarwari, Safa Kadal, Bohri Kadal, Sekidafar and Rainawari areas.

A torch procession was also held at Nowgam area in the evening and clashes also took place there in which two youth sustained injuries, witnesses said. Youth took out a massive protest march from various old Srinagar areas, but forces intercepted it near Babademb and fired teargas shells to disperse the protestors.
