Curfew, clashes, protests continue to rock Kashmir.....

Normal life remained paralysed across Kashmir on the 17th consecutive day today as curfew and other restrictions continued in Kashmir Valley in view of continuing shut-down call by separatists and prevailing law and order disturbances.

Curfew like restrictions continued in all sensitive areas under eight police stations in Srinagar district. The restrictions remained in force in Bandipora, Kupwara, Budgam and Ganderbal districts and remaining areas in Srinagar district.

The shut-down is being observed since July 09 after spontaneous protests and violence broke out following the killing of militant commander Burhan Wani (and his two associates on 8th of this month) in Kokernag area of south Kashmir. Barring BSNL post paid landline, mobile and broadband internet services, all private mobile telephone services continued to remain suspended.

Till Sunday evening, over 2 lakh 5 thousand Yatris had darshan at the Holy Amarnath Cave. The weekly Karvan-e-Aman cross Line of Control (LoC) bus service, operating between Srinagar and Muzafarabad, resumed this morning.

Three buses, carrying 63 returnees and 10 Kashmiri residents, crossed Kaman Post for crossing over to other side of LoC. 19 passengers from Muzaffarabad crossed over to this side.
