rainMore than  200 villages have been affected in current floods in Assam. Floodwater also submerged parts of wildlife parks. DFO of the Kaziranga national park Subhasish Das said that 28 forest camps have been affected due to floods. There are 178 forest camps in the park. He however said that situation is not alarming and forest guards are keeping a close eye to prevent poaching. The inhabitants of the park moved to higher places.

On the other hand, nearly 70 percent areas of the Pobitora wildlife sanctuary have been inundated in Morigaon district. Over 80 thousand people have been affected in Assam. Over 68 thousand people have been affected in worst hit Lakhimpur district alone.

Kaziranga national park authority however said though situation is not alarming, forest guards are keeping a close eye to prevent poaching. The inhabitants of the park moved to higher and safer places. As of now, no casualty to animals has been reported due to flood. On the other hand, nearly 70 percent areas of the Pobitora wildlife sanctuary have been inundated in Morigaon district.
