Government has amended the UGC regulations to promote foreign collaborations to improve educational quality in the country.
It will allow Higher Educational Institutions with grade A to collaborate with foreign institutions for non-technical degree programmes.
Talking to media in New Delhi today, Human Resources Development Minister Smriti Irani said enabling foreign collaborations will provide enhanced international exposure for Indian students.
She said the collaborations will be effective for the UGC recognised universities and institutions. The Minister said it will offer unprecedented academic mobility and enable students to explore larger avenues.
She said the degree will be accorded by Indian Higher Educational Institution with specific mention of being awarded in collaboration with the foreign institute.
The students will receive transcripts which will be jointly signed by both Indian and Foreign educational institutions.
