Smriti-IraniUnion Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani has said that she had reduced the victory margin of Rahul Gandhi by 80 per cent in Amethi as the Nehru-Gandhi family did not fulfill its promises. Speaking at a function in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, she said, the work, which Congress could not do in past 60 years, the present Narendra Modi government has done only in two years. Mrs Irani had contested against the Congress Vice President in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. She was on a day long visit to Amethi.

During her stay in the Lok Sabha constituency of Mr Gandhi, the minister distributed artificial limbs and aids to more than one thousand Divyang persons. Besides a medical camp was also organised in Partosh area of Amethi where more than 4000 patients were given treatment and specialist doctors’ advises.

Prior to that, Mrs Irani also dedicated a passengers’ retiring room at Salon bus station. She promised to provide Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Beema Yojna cover to the people who came for artificial limbs and for medical help, during her next visit in June. She also dedicated a satellite campus of Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar University to the people of Amethi. Ms Irani also distributed E- Rickshaw to the beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojna on this occasion.
