modi2India, Iran and Afghanistan will sign an agreement on developing Chabahar port during the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Iran beginning this Sunday. Briefing media in New Delhi today, Joint Secretary in External Affairs Ministry Gopal Baglay said, the port will help develop better connectivity among these countries. The Chabahar port will also further improve trade relations between India and Afghanistan.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will meet Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani. Developing connectivity, infrastructure and people to people contacts will be the priority of Prime Minister visit to the Gulf nation. Talks will be held on security and peace issues between the Indian Prime Minister and Iranian President during their meeting on 23rd of this month.

Joint Secretary in External Affairs Minister Gopal Baglay informed that India will invest in developing first phase of the Chabahar port. He said the visit of Prime Minister will further improve bilateral relations between the two countries.
