PrezCongress has urged President Pranab Mukherjee not to take any action over withdrawal of President’s Rule in Arunachal Predesh if Centre makes any recommendation in this regard. A party delegation led by senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad met Mr. Mukherjee at Rashtrapathi Bhawan and submitted a memorandum in this regard.

The party expressed apprehension that Centre may recommend withdrawal of President’s Rule as Sate Governor JP Rajkhowa intends to swear-in dissident Congress MLA Kalikho Pul as the new Chief Minister. In its memorandum, the party apprised the President of the fact that the matter is sub-judice.

Talking to media after the meeting, party leader Kapil Sibal said Congress believes that the state Governor has acted out of line and Kalikho Pul can not be sworn in as Chief Minister. Yesterday, 31 MLAs, led by Mr. Pul, met Governor to stake claim to form a new government in the state. The MLAs include 19 from Congress, 11 from BJP and two independents.
