Massive fire broke out at stage meant for Make in India week event in Mumbai, no casualties have been reported. Ongoing programme have been terminated. A larger number of fire tenders were pressed to douse the raging fire.

Fire brigade vehicles were immediately rushed to the spot. No casualty has been reported so far. However the stage and equipment were completely destroyed in the fire. Details are awaited.

The Maharashtra Night was a cultural Program organised by the Maharashtra Government as a part of ongoing Make in India Week. Many celebrities and folk artists were expected to perform in the event.

According to preliminary reports blaze caused by some explosions near the stage as some of the inflammable material caught fire. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Governor C Vidyasagar Rao,Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray actors Amitabh Bachchan & Aamir Khan, actor and politician Hema Malini, who were present at the event, were evacuated safely.

Other reports said that VVIP had left the place before fire broke out.

I was there at the event because Mr Bachchan was reciting my poem. As soon as the recital got over, I left the venue and another event started and suddenly the fire broke out. I was out looking for my car when this happned, hope everyone is safe,” said Prasoon Joshi.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Make in India week in the city exhorting global business giants to set bases in the country.
