The Enforcement Directorate today conducted searches on at least nine properties held by senior NCP leader and former Maharashtra PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal and his family members in Mumbai.

A team of 20 ED officers of the Mumbai zonal unit conducted the operation in connection with 11 different allegations of money laundering and land grabbing including the Delhi-based Maharashtra Sadan construction scam.

As Chhagan Bhujbal is currently travelling to US for a special session, ED officials have called in his nephew Sameer for questioning.

ED’s action comes days after Bombay High Court sought progress report on the case. Meanwhile, NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik has termed the ED action as vendetta politics by the BJP, adding that the party has full faith in judiciary.
