Union Home minister Rajnath Singh has said that Centre would take every possible step for ensuring foolproof security on the Indo-Bangladesh border on a war-footing. He also announced that work on the the Assam-Bangladesh international border would be fully sealed within current year.
He said that incidents of cease fire violations in Indo- Pak border have now become very nominal. Interacting with prominent citizens in Guwahati city of Assam last night, he said, the BSF has been able to give befitting reply to the cease fire violations of Pakistan. He also said that cow smuggling along the Indo- Bangladesh border has been considerably decreased in recent time.
The Home Minister said, due to the high family values of Indian muslims , ISIS terrorist group was not able to lure youths from India towards terrorism. He announced that the Centre has adopted zero tolerance policy towards insurgency and Maoism. Mr. Singh said, Maoists activities in the country have decreased by 35 to 40 percent.
Singh visited the Karimganj-Jakiganj (Bangladesh) international riverine border accompanied by Union Minister of State (independent) for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal, AASU adviser Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya, BJP leader and former Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP’s Assam in charge Mahendra Singh, BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, and former BJP legislator Mission Ranjan Das, among others.
A stretch of 3.5 km near Steamer-ghat, Nilomoni Path in Karimganj is yet to be fenced due to objection by the Bangladesh Government.
