Former Congress minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has formally joined the BJP today. Assam BJP President Siddhartha Bhattacharya has welcomed Sarma to the BJP by handing him a party ticket at a meeting in Guwahati.
BJP workers and supporters in large numbers greeted Mr. Sarma at the Borjhar airport following his arrival from Delhi this morning along with a few Congress MLAs. Mr. Sarma said that he was moved by the Independence Day speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
