The Government is in the process of formulating a concrete Uniform Code for Pharmaceutical Marketing Practices aimed at reducing unethical practices. Replying to a supplementary during the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Ananth Kumar said the uniform code which is under implementation till this month-end is only on a voluntary basis initially.
He also said the unethical practices in the marketing of pharmaceuticals will automatically be controlled, once the concrete code comes into force. He said the suggestions from the stakeholders on a concrete code have been received in a recently held meeting and the government is examining them.
