Uttar Pradesh, Lokayukta NK Mehrotra has registered a case against suspended IPS officer Amitabh Thakur on the complaint of an RTI activist of allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to known sources of his income.
Lokayukta Mehrotra said that the allegations in the complaint are of serious nature, so a case has been filed in the matter and reply has been sought from Thakur by August 6. The charges will be probed thoroughly, he added. On July 21, RTI activist Sanjay Sharma submitted over a 60 page complaint alleging that Thakur misused his position as IG and both he and his wife possessed properties disproportionate to their known sources of income.
Sharma, who accused Thakur of misusing his office and position, said his complaints were based on replies he got to his RTI queries and also contain some points of those queries that remained unanswered. While Amitabh Thakur has said that he has no ill gotten property and it is a pressure tactics by the ruling dispensation.
