India and Japan have discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in communications, digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI), with the two sides exploring ways to further deepen collaboration in emerging technology sectors.
The discussions took place during a meeting in Tokyo between India’s Ambassador to Japan Nagma Mallick and Hideo Fuseida, Director General for International Affairs at Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
Earlier, on September 22, Mallick met Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Kazuhiro Fujii on the sidelines of the India-Japan international friendship cricket match in Sano City. The two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations.
India and Japan established diplomatic relations in 1952 and have maintained a ‘Special Strategic and Global Partnership’ since 2014. Bilateral ties are underpinned by longstanding cultural and civilisational links, as well as close people-to-people and economic relations.
