US President Donald Trump has said he has called off planned military strikes against Iran for now, stating that the decision is contingent on the possibility of reaching a swift diplomatic agreement. According to Trump, several Middle Eastern countries, along with Iran, urged him to refrain from launching attacks, and he claimed that the broad framework of a potential deal—including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz—has already been agreed upon.
Trump’s remarks came shortly after Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that any military action by the United States or Israel would trigger a “decisive and proportionate response.” Araghchi delivered the warning during separate telephone conversations with Pakistan’s army chief and the foreign ministers of Turkiye and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing Tehran’s readiness to respond to any perceived aggression.
Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation in Gaza continued to deteriorate. Israeli military operations reportedly killed at least eight Palestinians across the enclave. In Deir el-Balah, an air strike destroyed a medical warehouse, leaving behind a crater measuring approximately 20 metres wide and 10 metres deep, raising further concerns over the impact of the conflict on civilian infrastructure.
