A total of 148 people have been killed and 216 others injured in Afghanistan over the past two weeks due to heavy rains, flash floods, and landslides. According to Afghan disaster authorities, Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan was among the worst-affected areas, where 24 people have been killed and 33 others injured over the past two days. Key roads have been damaged, disrupting connectivity between Kabul and several provinces of Afghanistan. Stranded residents were airlifted from several areas as floodwaters swept through villages and urban neighbourhoods. Weather authorities have warned about more extreme conditions ahead, raising concerns that casualties and damage could increase in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has also said that severe seasonal flooding has caused widespread damage across Afghanistan. According to the report, more than 73,000 people have been impacted by the calamity.
