Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has expressed his gratitude towards India for its support in sending fuel to the country amid the West Asia crisis, following the arrival of a major petroleum shipment in Colombo. In a social media post, President Dissanayake said he had recently spoken with Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the fuel shortages being faced by Sri Lanka due to the ongoing conflict.

He said he is grateful for India’s swift support after a consignment of 38,000 metric tonnes of petroleum, including 20,000 metric tonnes of diesel and 18,000 metric tonnes of petrol, reached Colombo on Saturday. The shipment was arranged by Lanka IOC after earlier contracted supplies from the West Asia and Singapore were disrupted due to force majeure and logistical constraints. The latest delivery is expected to help maintain fuel supply stability in Sri Lanka amid the ongoing disruptions.
