Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held a meeting with Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide and UK Minister of State for Trade Policy Chris Bryant in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The meeting was held on the margins of 14th Ministerial Conference of World Trade Organisation (WTO). In a social media post, Mr Goyal said that during the meeting, he reiterated India’s full support for a reformed, relevant, and effective WTO. The Minister also emphasised the need to uphold the organisation’s foundational principles, particularly consensus-based decision-making, Most Favoured Nation rule-based trade, and Special and Differential Treatment. Mr Goyal added that on the occasion, he underscored the vision of amplifying the voice of the Global South and its pivotal role in shaping a more inclusive and equitable multilateral trading system.
