In Bangladesh, the capital city of Dhaka has taken on an unusually calm appearance as a massive pre-Eid-ul-Fitr exodus empties streets, with millions leaving to celebrate the festival with their families across the country. A weeklong public holiday has accelerated the annual migration, turning typically congested areas such as Mirpur, Farmgate, Shahbagh and Motijheel into low-traffic zones, while public transport within the city runs with sparse passengers. Authorities have deployed heightened security measures, including increased police presence, CCTV surveillance and mobile courts, while restricting heavy vehicles on highways to ease congestion during peak travel days. Despite logistical challenges, the human spirit of Eid remains strong.
