The United States has halted all flights to and from El Paso International Airport in Texas for special security reasons, the Federal Aviation Administration said today, without providing further details. The airport, located next to the U.S. military’s Biggs Army Airfield and across the border from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, confirmed that all flights were grounded. Officials said, the restrictions were issued on short notice and that they are awaiting additional guidance from the FAA. The agency also barred flights over nearby Santa Teresa, New Mexico. The restrictions, covering a 10 nautical mile radius excluding Mexican airspace, will remain in effect until February 21. The airport served 3.49 million passengers in the first 11 months of 2025.
