India has joined the United Nations Honour Roll by promptly paying its 2026 dues of 35.187 million dollars, UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said yesterday. India sent its share of 1.016 per cent of the 2016 regular budget of 3.45 billion dollars, covering UN operations except peacekeeping, on Tuesday. The UN faces a financial crisis after the United States failed to pay its dues last year.
The Honour Roll recognises countries that pay within 30 days. India’s total contribution to the UN budget is 38.223 million dollars, with 3.091 million dollars offset for staff income taxes.
