Three out of five major Asian Indices ended positive today. China’s Shanghai Composite Index rose one percent, Singapore’s Straits Times index gained 0.26 percent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index climbed 0.9 percent. On the other hand, South Korea’s Kospi lost one percent, and Japan’s Nikkei fell 0.34 percent.
European Markets
All 3 European major indices are in Red today. Germany’s DAX and U.K.’s FTSE decreased by 0.4 percent and France’s CAC 40 also trading at 0.45 percent down when reports last came in.
US Markets
U.S. stocks closed lower on Thursday after the Dow reached an intra-day high of 40,000 for the first time, as investors continued to recalibrate their rate-cut expectations following data showing a slowdown in inflation, as well as strong corporate earnings results.
Nasdaq slipped 0.26 percent, Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.1 percent and S&P 500 declined 0.21 percent.
