In Jammu and Kashmir, the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated across the Union Territory today with religious fervour and gaiety.
After the end the the holy month of Ramadan, the crescent for the month of Shawwal was sighted in J&K last evening announced Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam thus ending the fasting of ramzan.
The Grand Mufti while extending Eid greetings to the people of J&K wished happiness, peace and prosperity for all. The seerat committees across these districts in Jammu region have already notified the timing for the Eid prayers which has been held in Eidgahs and Jamia Masjids across the Jammu division. Earlier, yesterday People were seen busy in last minute shopping for their loved ones to celebrate the day of joy. The Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha has also extended Eid Greetings to the people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. In a message Sinha said that the day inspires us to dedicate ourselves to the service of humanity and further wished good health, happiness and prosperity in everyone’s lives. Leaders of various political parties including BJP, NC, PDP and others too have extended their greetings to the people of UT on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr.
