New Delhi: (AMN) Lok sabaha speaker Meira kumar on Wednesday urged all party leaders to ensure smooth functioning of Parliament during the winter session. The session beginning from November 9.
At an all-party meeting here attended by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Leader of Lok Sabha Pranab Mukherjee, Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj, BJP veteran L K Advani and several other leaders and union ministers, the speaker take notice of the concern of these leaders.
"I had convened a meeting to discuss the ways and means so that there are no disruptions and forced adjournments of the House. Since the meeting remained inconclusive, a fresh meeting has been called today," Kumar told media persons here.
To a question on demands by some political parties to hold a one-day session and later a deferred session in view of Bihar Assembly elections, she said as of now, she would like to focus on the "important subject" on hand.
A meeting of the floor-leaders has also been convened by Kumar on the opening day of the winter session to ensure that the month-long session was a smooth affair.
