The biennial elections to the Council of States to fill the seats of members retiring between July to August this year will be held on 24th July. Election Commission has said that the term of office of ten members of the Council of States elected from Goa, Gujarat and West Bengal is due to expire on their retirement in July to August. This includes Rajya Sabha members Derek O’Brien, Vinay D Tendulkar, Dola Sen, and Sushmita Dev among others.
The Commission said that notification for the election will be issued on 6th July and the last date for submission of nominations will be 13th July.
