AHMEDABAD: (AMN) The special CBI court on Friday rejected the bail plea of former minister of State for home Amit Shah. Shah, a close aide of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is in Sabarmati Jail under the judicial custody since he was arrested by the CBI.
He has been arrested in Sohrabuddin Shaikh fake encounter and murder of Kaushar bi-the wife of Sohrabuddin.
The Special CBI Judge GK Upadhyay had pronounced his verdict after the completion of counter arguments by the senior lawyers of both the sides on twenty ninth of last month.
The court perceived that if released on bail, shah might misuse his position and create obstacles in the way of the investigations and, therefore, his bail plea was rejected.
Rejection of bail plea is seen as a big set-back to Amit Shah- who has the option to challenge the verdict in the High court.
