The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today said conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and the remaining parts of Jammu and Kashmir during the next two days.
In its weather bulletin, the IMD said the Southwest Monsoon will today cover the remaining parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi. It will also cover some parts of Gujarat, some more parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh today.
The weather agency said there will be no heatwave during the next five days in the country. It said the maximum temperature will be reduced by four to six degree Celsius is very likely over northwest India during the next five days.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai. IMD declared that the Southwest monsoon has reached Mumbai.
Most parts of the city and its suburbs is witnessing continuous rains since morning. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the Coastal Road in Worli and inspected the situation.
The CM has directed the concerned officials to ensure that there is no inundation in the city.
In Ghatkopar area, a portion of a three-storied building collapsed in the morning. While rescue operation is still underway, no casualties have been reported so far.
Meanwhile, The National Capital woke up to a rainy morning today and heavy rainfall is likely to continue till tomorrow in the region.
