IPS officer Praveen Sood has been appointed as the next Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a period of two years. Mr. Sood is currently serving as the Director General of Police of Karnataka. He will succeed incumbent CBI Director Subodh Kumar Jaiswal.
Sood was appointed Karnataka DGP in January 2020, superseding 1985-batch IPS officer Ashit Mohan Prasad. The 1986- batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer will replace Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, whose two-year tenure as CBI chief will end on May 25.
