PATNA: The Election Commission team headed by the Chief Election Commissioner S Y Quraishi is visiting here on a three days tour of Bihar. The visit is seen as crucial as team’s assessment of the situation would prepare ground for assembly polls in the state. The team comprises Election commissioner V.S. Sampath and Deputy Election commissioner Vinod Jutshi .
The commission will announce the dates for the assembly polls after reviewing the election preparedness. S Y Quraishi will meet the representative of the political parties this evening and will listen to their views on poll matters.
Besides Divisional commissioners he will hold discussions with District Magistrates( DMs) and Superintendent of police ( SPs) of the districts of the state tomorrow to ensure peaceful polling during assembly elections. After that he will hold talks with Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of the state.
The election commission had already sought details on the 13 points including deployment of paramilitary forces, Number of sensitive booths, execution of non-bailable warrants, and matter regarding transfer of those officers who have been posted at one place for the last three years.
