In the second one day international cricket, India beat South Africa by seven wickets at the JSCA International Stadium Complex, in Ranchi last night to level the three-match series 1-1. Batting first, South Africa posted 278 for seven in the stipulated fifty overs with the help of Aiden Markram’s 79 and Reeza Hendricks’ 74 runs. For India, Mohammed Siraj scalped three wickets, while Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Kuldeep Yadav and Shardul Thakur claimed a wicket apiece.

In reply, India overhauled the target in just 45.5 overs for the loss of three wickets riding on Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 113 and Ishan Kishan 93 runs. Shreyas Iyer was declared Player of the Match.
Earlier, South Africa’s stand-in captain Keshav Maharaj opted to bat first. The third and final one day international of the series will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi tomorrow.
