Manipur government has taken up various steps to attract the public through grassroot level local bodies on celebrating the Poshan Maah under Poshan Abhiyan.
Talking to AIR News, Director of State Social Welfare Department- Ngangom Uttam said that the Department of Social Welfare tied up with various departments and District Administration on spreading awareness on necessary to improve the nutritional status of the targeted stakeholders. The Poshan Panchayats, competitions for healthy babies, awareness programs etc are taken up at different locations by various departments.
Shri Uttam said that the government is trying to make the Poshan Maah a public movement for a healthy and disease-free society. Anganwadi Workers and Helpers are being tied up to identified spots in the school campus for kitchen garden, fish pond and necessary help will be given to them by the concerned department, if needed. The AYUSH department has been giving Yoga training to children and the Health Department has also been given awareness on hygiene to adolescents.
