Govt will help people avail cost-effective use of medicine, says PM
Director-General of WHO thanks PM Modi for this multiple facility centre

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone of WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) in Jamnagar in Gujarat. Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and Director-General of World Health Organisation Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus were also present on this occasion.
Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bhutan Lotay Tshering and Prime Minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba conveyed their greetings for WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine through video message.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the WHO-Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar aims to bring ancient wisdom and modern science together. Mr. Modi was speaking after laying the foundation stone of WHO-Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat, in the presence of WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus and Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.
The Prime Minister said, the centre should develop the holistic treatment protocol for specific diseases so that patients can benefit from both modern and traditional medicines. Mr. Modi said, the WHO- Global Centre for Traditional Medicine will immensely help to compile data for formulation of policies for safe and cost-effective use of traditional medicines.
He expressed his thanks to Dr. Tedros- Director General of World Health Organisation for WHO-Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The Prime Minister said, our country will do full justice to this new partnership of WHO with us by providing best health care system to the world through this centre. Prime Minister Modi also expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth. Mr. Modi expressed happiness that he accepted the invitation to visit Gujarat.
Director-General of World Health Organisation Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus thanked Prime Minister Modi for this multiple facility WHO centre. Speaking on this occasion, Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth expressed his happiness for the setting up of WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar.
Prime Minister of Bhutan Lotay Tshering also thanked Mr. Modi. The GCTM will be the first and only global outpost centre for traditional medicine across the world. It will emerge as an international hub of global wellness. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Union Ayush Minister Sarbanand Sonowal were also present on this occasion.
