The municipalities of Indore and Dhaka North held a virtual dialogue on Tuesday to share best practises in solid waste management. The webinar was facilitated by the High Commission of India and Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Govt. of India.
During the webinar, Indore Municipal Corporation officials shared their waste collection methods, innovative practises and technologies adopted by them for efficient waste management. The municipal corporation of Indore detailed the 100 percent door-to-door segregated waste collection system, biometric attendance system for municipal cleaners and GPS-tracked waste collection vehicles.
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) officials shared their best practises and held productive discussions on how to take forward cooperation in the field of solid waste management and other municipal services. Speaking at the occasion, National Mission Director and Joint Secretary for Swachh Bharat Mission Roopa Mishra welcomed initiatives to take the cooperation forward.
Indore was ranked the cleanest city of India in the cleanliness Survey carried out by the government of India in 2021. It has won this distinction for five consecutive times since 2017 owing to its much-applauded waste management system which includes segregation of waste, door to door collection, home composting, recycling of day waster and central composting facilities.
CEO, DNCC Selim Reza led the Bangladesh side while Roopa Mishra, National Mission Director, Swachh Bharat Mission led the conversation from the Indian side during the webinar.
