Three terrorists and one army man were killed in a shoot out in the Bandarban area of South Eastern Bangladesh under the Chittagong Hill Tract Area on Wednesday night. Another army man was injured in the incident.

According to a press release issued by the Inter Services Press Relations (ISPR), all the three persons killed were members of the Jana Sanghati Samiti (JSS) main group. However, their identities have not yet been established.

The army got a tip off about the presence of some terrorists planning to extort money at Bathi Para in Ruma. It sent a team led by its warrant officer Habib from the Ring Khyang Lake Army Camp to conduct a drive at the location around 10.30 in the night. Sensing the presence of the army, the suspected terrorists opened fire which killed The patrol commander, Senior Warrant Officer Habibur Rahman. Three of the suspected terrorists were also killed in the retaliatory gun fire by the army.

The army team also recovered a cache of arms including one SMG, three ammunition magazines, three guns, five bullets, four pairs of uniforms and Tk. 52,900 in cash from the location. Currently, the army is conducting a massive search in the area.
