A Malaysian airlines flight made an emergency landing at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka late on Wednesday night after a hoax bomb call. The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) later announced that the threat appeared to be ‘unfounded’ after a thorough search of passengers, luggage and the aircraft at the airport.
HSIA Executive Director Group Captain AHM Touhid-ul Ahsan said that the phone call received from Malaysia appeared unfounded as nothing was found, reports the official news agency BSS.
After the plane landed in Dhaka, the army commandos, air force bomb disposal units, Rapid Action Batallion (RAB) and other concerned agencies carried out the search operation as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for such cases.
The flight carried 135 passengers which included 134 Bangladeshis and 1 Malaysian.
