Mumbai’s famous Veermata Jijabai Bhosle Park and Zoo, a huge attraction for children reopened today. The Mumbai civic body, which maintains the Zoo, has laid down certain conditions for the visitors due to the COVID-19 situation.

Veermata Jijabai Udyan, popularly known as Ranicha Baug is one of the favorite tourist attractions in Mumbai, especially for children. All the crowd puller places were shut due to COVID-19 induced lockdown last year and Ranicha Baug was one of them. Now, with the decline in fresh Corona cases in Mumbai, the State Government took the decision of reopening this zoo for people.

The BMC has laid down certain conditions for the visitors due to the prevailing COVID situation. According to these conditions, the garden and zoo will be open for tourists from 9.30 A.M. to 6.00 P.M. For the citizens coming for morning walk, it will remain open from 6.00 A.M. to 8.30 A.M. The ticket counter in the zoo will be open till 4 P.M. instead of 5.15 P.M.

Wearing of face mask has been made mandatory to seek entry into the garden. The civic body has also said that crowding near the ticket counter should be avoided and visitors are told to enter with minimum objects. Visitors have been instructed to enter after cleaning hands with sanitizer and to follow social distancing. No eatables are allowed in the park. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Administration has appealed the visitors to observe all these conditions to prevent COVID-19 infection.
